ABOUT OUR SPEAKER
Prof. Dr. Eckart D. Stratenschulte

Eckart Stratenschulte, Diplom-Soziologe, 1st state Gymnasium (grammarschool) teacher’s qualification examination, Dr. phil., was acting head ofthe Institut für intereuropäische Studien Berlin (the Institute for Inter-European Studies in Berlin) from 1978-1981, and then head of the Institute until 1989. He then worked as the head of the film, radio and television department at the Berlin Senate Chancellery, before becoming
head of the Europäische Akademie Berlin (the European Academy in Berlin) in 1993, where he remained until 2017. In 2018 and 2019, he was a member of the executive board of the Deutsche Nationalstiftung (the German
National Foundation). Since 1999, he has taught political science at the Freie Universität Berlin (the Free University in Berlin), where he was made honorary professor in 2005.

He has published several books and numerous articles on political and educational topics, and has written a
large number of teaching units.

Eckart Stratenschulte is the PEACE LINE Project Coordinator.

ABOUT The Volksbund
Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge e.V. is a humanitarian organisation charged by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany with recording, maintaining and caring for the graves of German war casualties abroad. The Volksbund provides information to relatives on all matters related to war graves, advises public and private institutions, promotes international cooperation in the area of war grave maintenance and encourages young people to come together to learn at the last resting places of war casualties.
